Mobile Broadband

What is mobile broadband?

Mobile broadband utilizes the mobile phone network to allow you to connect to the internet any where you can receive a mobile phone signal. This technology is also referred to as High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA). Signal strength can vary depending on where you live and how close you are to your supplier’s mobile phone mast.

How does mobile broadband work?

To get started with mobile broadband you need to purchase a broadband dongle (wireless USB adapter). Dongles can cost any where between £30 – £60 on pay as you go (PAYG) deals and are free on many pay monthly deals. Once you have your dongle you simple need plug into a usb port on your computer or laptop and follow the instructions. On mobile broadband you pay for the amount of data you download rather than a fixed monthly amount. Many mobile broadband providers will provide you with a secure web page so that you can monitor your bandwith use, and make sure you don’t go over your monthly limit.
