Need faster Mobile Broadband connection speeds?

As much as I love Mobile Broadband for being so mobile, great value and easy to set-up I’m the first to admit that connection speeds can be precarious at times. Everyone’s worst scenario is your dongle failing when you need it the most, and sods law, it usually happens. So here are a few tips that may stop you from throwing your laptop dongle out of the window.

• Check the network coverage where you live. Most mobile broadband suppliers offer a free checker tool and actual encourage you to check before you buy for a better experience.
• Signal strength is one of the major factors in whether you will get a good reception. Like with mobile phones you may need to move around at home to find a good spot. A few of my friends have recommended working near a window to get a good signal, but personally this has not worked for me.
• Poor weather conditions like snow and rain my affect you connection, so be on the lookout for any adverse conditions.
• Peak use – does your connection speed dive at a certain time of day? Like with home broadband the data connection is being used by other internet users. It is not uncommon to find that your broadband speed may decrease at lunchtime or teatime when typically more people are browsing the internet.
• Buy an Antenna extension. If you are consistently experiencing poor connection speeds it may be worth investing in an extension lead. An antenna is designed to help improve the signal received by your Dongle but it’s worth noting that there are no guarantees your signal will improve in areas of poor coverage.
